Every free camp from here to anywhere
Tell it where you're headed. Camp Finder plans a camp for every night, checks your fuel range, and shows you what's worth stopping for along the way.
One trip, start to finish
Camp Finder follows the way you actually travel: plan it, pick the sights, drive it, then keep it.
Plan where you'll sleep
Type where you're going, or just say it. You get a free or cheap camp for every night, picked for your rig, whether that's a swag, a camper trailer or a 22-foot van. Want a motel on night four? Tick "Need a refresh" and it finds one.
Each day shows the sunset at camp and the time to leave so you pull in before dark, when the roos come out.
Know you'll make the next servo
Pick your car and it knows your fuel use, tank size and the extra it burns towing. Before you leave, it checks every stretch of the route and tells you if one is longer than your range, and how many jerry cans to carry.
On the road it tells you when you're at the last fuel before a long stretch.
Longest stretch without fuel is 284 km. Your range towing is about 590 km.
Nullarbor Roadhouse is the last fuel before Border Village. Top up here.
Pick the sights worth the detour
It lists the places people actually stop for along your route, from Coral Bay and the Pinnacles to Carnarvon Gorge and the Big Banana, with how far off the road each one is. Tick the ones you want and the trip routes you past them.
Keep every kilometre
Start a journey and it records your route quietly in the background. Add notes and photos as you go, earn badges for kilometres, states and famous roads like the Gibb, and finish with a short video of your trip to share with family.
Made for the long way round
Works with no signal
Every camp in Australia is built into the app, and you can download maps for the trip before you lose coverage.
Weather, fires and roads
Bushfire warnings, heavy rain, extreme heat, steep climbs and low bridges for your rig's height, all on your route.
Water and dump points
One tap finds the next water tap, dump point or servo ahead of you on the road.
Family can follow along
Send a link and the family can see where you are and where you're camping tonight.
Bringing the dog?
Turn on dog mode and you'll only see camps where dogs are allowed, with national parks left out.
Big, clear and simple
Simple mode gives bigger text and just the essentials. Ask it by voice: "Bundaberg to Cairns".
Built in Bundaberg by someone who'd rather be camping.
- Grey nomads doing the Big Lap
- Families squeezing a trip into the school holidays
- 4WDers heading up the Gibb or the Cape
- Weekenders who just want somewhere free and close
Help us test it
Camp Finder is free and coming to the App Store soon. We're looking for travellers to try the iPhone beta and tell us what's missing.
We'll email you an invite. Android is on the way.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Finding camps, planning trips and recording journeys are free. You don't need an account unless you want to add camps, rate them or share your trip live.
Where does the camp information come from?
From OpenStreetMap, Australian government open data and other travellers, updated every week. Camps close and rules change, so always check the signs and local rules when you arrive.
Does it work without phone signal?
Yes. The camp list is stored on your phone, and you can download a trip's maps and camps before you go. Live fuel prices, photos and weather need signal.
What happens to my location?
Your location stays on your phone. Journeys are recorded on your phone too, and only leave it if you turn on live sharing for your family. Read the privacy policy.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone first, with Android to follow.
